how is knowledge organized in the academic field of nursing?
Q. Is nursing organized in clinical and non clinical and if so, what are the sub categories. I am writing a paper and need all the information I can get.
Asked by austin_mssu - Sun Oct 7 11:34:18 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. In nursing, there is a process that is used to deliver patient care (Nursing Process). This process exists for every problem the patient has. The stages are as follows: Assessment- of the patients needs Diagnosis- human response needs that nursing assists with,(nursing diagnosis) Planning- of the patients care (set measurable goals) Implementation- of care for the patient (methods by which the goals will be achieved) Evaluation- evaluate the implementations done above (evaluate progress of the goals) Hope this is what you're looking for.

Is writing an art or an academic field?
Q. I got into an argument with someone over whether or not your writing can determine your intelligence. The grammar, spelling, and vocabulary does but what about the actual writing... is it an art or an academic skill?
Asked by potterfanHP - Fri Oct 9 13:56:21 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I would say that it depends on the type of writing. I write technical stuff, very dry, not interesting to read unless you need the information. So it would be an academic skill, but if you are writing poetry, short stories or a novel then it's art. I would have say, you are both right.

I passed the CPA exam (IL) in 1980 but stayed in academic field. What must I do to open a small CPA office?
Q. - Ph.D. - 3 years of accounting work experience
Asked by kim-hwan@sbcglobal.net - Thu May 15 21:59:18 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Check with the Illinois office of professional regulation. Some states require working for a CPA firm for a given length of time, some consider teaching a certain number of years to be sufficient experience. I received my license in Indiana on the basis of teaching experience, later transferred it to Texas, and now in Florida.

Are "Languages" not a respected academic field?
Q. I was just reading a question and someone said like, "oh, bet you study languages" or something like that. I might be paranoid, but I was just wondering where language studies stand in people's point of view - like, 1. Sciences 2. Engineering 3. Law 4. Maths ... ... 29. Languages Is it like that? i mean what I do isn't easy (I know it's not super difficult either, but you know...) german, japanese and generally linguistics (phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, language acquisition, blah, blah...) Also if people do see it as less academic (especially since I'm not studying Latin or Ancient Greek) is it because it's typically a female dominated field? All opinions welcome (regardless of religion ;D)
Asked by unknown - Mon Apr 28 16:54:45 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Unfortunately languages are not given the respect that they deserve. In countries where english is spoken as a first language, individuals look down upon any attempts to learn another. I am currently undertaking, and struggling with, a certification that addresses intonation, grammar, phonetics, pronunciation, stresses and lexis use of the english language. Your study of latin will render my references academic I'm sure, but ashamedly as english speakers, we are not encouraged to aim for more. I don't think that gender is a concern when seriousness of a degree is considered. Arrogance of english speakers is.

women's studies is an academic field, what is that about, 10 pts?
Q. i didn't know you can take a course to learn about women, has anybody taken this course, what's it like i'm just curious, and why is there not a men's studies course?
Asked by Billy - Sun Jan 24 00:20:16 2010 - - 11 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Women's Studies is both political and academic, in the same way that studies of any ethnic, national or racial pressure-group are both political and academic. Few people would study or teach the subject, unless they had an emotional involvement with the politics involved. Women's Studies assumes, and teaches, that women are systematically disadvantaged, compared to men. Moreover, any institution that has set up a Women's Studies course has to some extent accepted that doctrine as true, otherwise it would not waste money on it. Men's Studies courses do exist, but, in order to come into existence, they have to overcome antagonism in the institution from Feminists who fear that focusing on men will undermine Feminists' focus on the… [cont.]

Is American history a legitimate field of study in Academia?
Q. Or for that matter ANY history. Isn't history WRITTEN by the conqueror within any given situation. A Conservative historian would not write about the Iraq war the same way a Liberal one would. So really, what are you studying when you study hisory? Are you studying lies? A Nazi historian would not write about Hitler the same way a Jewish one would History is the exact opposite of science, the only other academic field i can think of that bullsh__'s more than history in academia is religion
Asked by MegaTron [reloaded] - Fri Dec 11 17:01:51 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Yes. A good, reputable historian relies on as many primary documents as possible. There is always room for interpretation but a good researcher compares the facts, the interpretations, the analyses and the evidence supporting the facts. It is absolutely essential that history be taught in our schools. After spending some time on Yahoo Answers I am appalled at the amount of ignorance of history that is displayed in some of the questions and answers.

Do you think theology should be considered a valid academic pursuit?
Q. What does it give us? Really? Isn't it the same as getting a Ph.D. in astrology? It has no practical uses thus I do not think it should be considered an academic field of study.

A. Reservation should be on the basis of financial status - ability to pay, rather than on the basis of caste, color or even gender! Asking for reservation actually means acknowledging that you are lesser than others. Why must one do that?

Q. I recently lost a lot of weight and my old suits don't fit me, but I can't afford a new one right now. My budget is very limited. Any ideas on what I can do? I have already asked a couple friends and their suits don't fit. I am just wondering if a suit is a must. I have nice skirts and pants and shirts which are business appropriate, I am just missing a complete suit. Would dress pants and a blouse be okay, or is the jacket absolutely necessary?
